Caution Regarding Free Home Exchange Companies
by: Anne

Home exchange is definitely the way to go, most especially in these very difficult times. You can save a bundle, especially when a car is also part of the deal. Many home exchangers are also happy to care for each others pets, thus saving kennel fees.

However, I very strongly caution about using free companies. Their intentions may be excellent, but companies that don't charge a fee, even a small one, have absolutely no follow-up on their members. By charging a membership fee they immediately verify that the member's personal contact information is genuine and correct. This becomes critical in the event of any issue that may arise.

I run a blog devoted to the concept of home exchanging. It's full of good information and advice as well as contributions from actual home exchangers. Take a look at http://exchangehomesblog.com

Cheers - Anne
